The Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association was originally incorporated on December 6, 1926 “for the burial of the dead of the Jewish faith in accordance with the religious principles and strict orthodox practices of the Jewish faith”.
In 2024, the Board of Trustees created a separate section of the cemetery for interfaith families. This new section allows Jews to be buried alongside their non-Jewish family members. In this way, we honor our ancestors wishes for traditional orthodox ritual practice while serving the needs of today’s Jewish community.
The Moses Montefiore Cemetery is located at 899 E. Woodland Avenue, in Appleton, Wisconsin. Every person of the Jewish faith owning a lot in Moses Montefiore Cemetery is a member of the Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association. The Association is managed by the Board of Trustees of the Association.
The Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association is completely separate and independent of the Moses Montefiore Congregation.
The Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt cemetery association under the Internal Revenue Code 501 (c)(13).
