This cost applies to all sections of the Moses Montefiore Cemetery including lots for cremation.
The Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association sells the right to use the land for the purposes of burying of the deceased, not the land itself. Ownership of the land remains with the Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association.
The Opening and closing of the grave site is arranged for and paid directly to the funeral home. Compensation for services provided by the rabbi/spiritual leader is the responsibility of the family and is to be paid directly to the rabbi/spiritual leader.
The cost of the plot does not include funeral home expenses, which include all of the burial arrangements such as preparing the plot for burial, transportation of the deceased, cremation, various state and town paperwork fees and other expenses associated with the mortuary.
Plot purchase also does not include the costs of a head stone. Arrangement should be made with a monument company, who will make, inscribe and place the stone.
About Perpetual Care
Perpetual care is included with the cost of the lot. This includes mowing and general grounds maintenance but does NOT include maintenance to the monuments or memorials.
Monuments and memorials are the property of those that purchase them. The Moses Montefiore Cemetery Association is not responsible for damage or upkeep.
